| The Monkey King is perhaps China's best known mythical hero. I like him because like me, he is in constant struggle with his ego. Sometimes his confidence and strong will allows him to acheive monumental feats. At other times, his wrecklessness gets him into trouble of unearthly proportions. I think he just grew up without a father and hasn't had anyone to teach him to be responsible. That's why the Buddha put that band on his head to make his head hurt when he misbehaves. I think I have one of those bands on my head too. |
